Fall into me, the sky's crimson tears

There was some talk of Slayer over on bowlie.com. I haven't listened to them in years, but apparently they have a new album ("Christ Illusion") out today. Inspired, I dug out "Reign in Blood", which is perhaps one of the finest metal albums you can find. We used to listen to this so much way back when, it's been too long since I've heard it. Check out "Raining Blood", and just for kicks, Tori Amos' cover version. How's that for an unlikely post?

Listen:
Slayer > Raining Blood
Tori Amos > Raining Blood

I was never a big fan of Slayer. Did see them live once though on a pretty awesome bill with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax... I was deaf for days!

Love the Tori Amos verions though. She's nutty as squirrel shit but she knows how to turn a song on it's head. Superb!

Damn, that sounds like a sweet gig. Our big bands back then were Slayer, Metallica, and Iron Maiden. My buddy was into Megadeth, but they didn't really click with me.

Megadeth weren't one of my faves eiter. I was mainly Metallica, Maiden, AC/DC. Wasn't into Slayer much either to be hoenst.

It was a sweet gig. Anthrax stole the show for me though. Awesome opener... Ahead of their time too I reckon.

I wasn't a huge Anthrax fan, but the time I saw them touring with Public Enemy was fucking ace! They rocked, PE rocked...and they both hit the stage at the end for a kick ass version of Bring Tha Noise. Superb.
