Everything else is a waste of breath

Fiona Apple with her version of Elvis Costello's "I Want You". This is from the Decades Rock Live! show, which pairs up "classic" and contemporary artists. Fiona completely owns this song, she burns and smolders, singing it like some fucking psycho stalker ex girlfriend. Reminds me of some girls I used to know. In any case, I think it's an excellent rendition. You can also check out a video here, if you're so inclined.

What a great track, thanks for that. She really does come across as a right bunny-boiler doesn't she?

Fucking horrible. When will artists just start writing their own music and learn that there are other artists who you will not be able to cover properly? No one has topped the Beatles with their covers and Elvis Costello's version of his own song is unbeatable. Why try to redo it? Embarassing.

I sort of agree with you in that nobody will top EC's version. I think, however, that Fiona has nailed it down pretty good. She's written plenty of great material herself, so maybe you should do your homework before you rant anonymously.
