Chanced upon A Girl Called Eddy's Been Around the other day. I hadn't previously heard of her, but it looks like this is her second album and her first in 16 years (amusingly it starts off with a voice that says girl, where you been?). I've already gone through it a few times and I really love it. It's got this 70s singer/songwriter pastiche to it. Much of it makes me think of Carole King and Laura Nyro. One song in particular, Jody, is dripping with Steely Dan vibes (I love Steely Dan, so this is a good thing). I even thought Lucky Jack (20-1) was Aimee Mann for a moment. That shit is just the tip of the iceberg, this album is so good. Check it out here, if you're interested.
