Lost Tapes

I haven't yet listened to this (just stumbled upon it), but Röyksopp's Lost Tapes project looks like it'll be very cool. The words on their website tell the story best:
Signs of life – introducing «Lost Tapes»:
Upon renovating our arctic chateau here in the desolate north, we came across an old sea chest containing an abundance of rare B-sides, exclusives – & even some previously unreleased tracks. We thought the only right thing would be to make these «hard-to-find» tracks available for those of you who prefer to stream music. So therefore we’ve created a playlist called «Lost Tapes». The Playlist will be updated as we go, make sure you subscribe. All obscure tracks will eventually see the light of day.
I love these dudes, and seeing the names Lykke Li and Susanne Sundfør have me excited. Listen/subscribe to the playlist here.

Lay your head where it burns

The new Lykke Li album, I Never Learn, is out and I love it. Seriously, with track titles like I Never Learn, Heart of Steel and Sleeping Alone, brutal heartbreak never sounded so good.

Check out Love Me Like I'm Not Made of Stone, then go track down the album and listen to it on repeat all day. You can thank me later.

Sadness, I'm your girl

Here is Lykke Li's ode to melancholy, Sadness is a Blessing. Earlier this week, I ran into a copy of her new album, Wounded Rhymes, and I've been enjoying it a great deal. This is probably my favorite song from the album at the moment.

If Cupid's got a gun, then he's shooting

I like this song quite a bit. The lyrics sound really tortured, I wonder if Lykke Li wrote them. She sure sings it like she means it. I'm going to have to investigate Kleerup, I know nothing of him except that he appears to be a big shot producer from Sweden. I like the haunting feeling the music evokes, the strings do the trick. Combine that with Lykki Li sounding like she's on a three-day vodka bender and voila, you have perfection. I like it!

Swedish Girls Redux

Just as a last mention, for a while; I just found this broadcast over on the NPR site. It's Lykke Li, El Perro Del Mar, and Anna Ternheim on NPR's World Cafe. The Program runs just over half an hour. This is just in case anybody is actually interested in this stuff, I know I have a healthy infatuation with them right now. Okay, so here are some links and then I'll shut up before someone tells me to STFU.

I'm too proud for love

Okay, I am new to the world of Lykke Li. I saw her performing last Sunday and she was awesome. She's a total pop star, she's gonna be huge. It'll be a crime if she isn't. So yeah, I've been obsessing over her somewhat, this week. I've just seen this video of her and her band in a bathroom, doing I'm Good, I'm Gone. Awesome.

So check out her album, Youth Novels. It's produced by the Bjorn dude from Peter Bjorn and John. Listen to more music at her website, lykkeli.com, and at her myspXXX page. Make sure you listen to Little Bit, it's so fucking gorgeous. I've got a live version of it for you to check out here before you go traipsing out to those other sites.
